What We Do

Mission

Our mission is to provide a cohesive education program that engages elementary students and their communities to embrace all differences and disabilities.

Vision

Our vision is to erase all stigmas that surround disabilities and create a culture where disability is a comfortable conversation.

Our Program

Creating S.P.A.C.E. has designed a one week program for elementary school students, parents, and other community members. We also provide resources to help continue the conversation. Students will learn and talk about visible and invisible disabilities and engage in lessons with the goal to be kinder to one another. Each day concentrates on a specific theme (letter) as outlined below. The week-long program includes in-class lessons for students, a parent education night, as well as resources to keep the conversation going at home and at school.

Our Core Values

Storytelling

We believe in the power of telling one’s story and the power of hearing someone else’s in order to gain a better understanding of the human experience and create connection with those around us.

Permission

We believe in giving people the permission to share, listen, ask questions, and to learn from one another.

Authenticity

We believe in creating a safe space that allows for vulnerability and for all to be their authentic selves and accept others for who they are.

Curiosity

We believe that curiosity fuels the desire for continued conversation that ignites understanding other people's feelings, experiences, and identities.

Education

We believe in educating the current and next generations in order to spark systemic change in how we understand and view disability and humanness in our communities and the world.
